  • SAH-Archipedia -  An encyclopedia of the U.S. built environment organized by the Society of Architectural Historians and the University of Virginia Press.  It contains histories, photographs and maps for over 20,000 structures and places.

  • The Oxford Dictionary of Art - Art Ref N 33 .O93 1997. - An overview of Western art forms and of individual artists from antiquity to the present.
  • The Yale Dictionary of Art and Artists - Art Ref N 33 .L353 2000. - Dealing with all aspects of Western art from 1300 to the present day, the dictionary provides information on painters, sculptors, and graphic artists, technical processes, terminology, theory, schools, movements, patrons and collecting.

  • Guide to the Literature of Art History - Art Ref Z 5931 .A67 - Basic art bibliography for subject research in the field of art history. Major subjects included are painting, sculpture, architecture, prints, drawings, photography and the decorative arts.

  • ARTstor - Digital images of works of art and other cultural materials, descriptive information about the works recorded in these images, and tools to work with the images and their documentation. ARTstor currently includes close to 1,000,000 digital images ranging from standard art history survey material to specialized collections.
  • The Bridgeman Art Library -  Thousands of artists, styles and subjects are represented in an extensive archive of images of painting, sculpture, architecture and the decorative arts.
  • World Painting Index - Art Ref ND 45 H38 and supplements. This index helps identify publications which include reproductions of paintings and, depending on the publication, descriptions or commentaries specific to the individual painting.
