Here are just a few commonly used sources for economics data, plus a few tips for where else to look for data:

Bureau of Economic Analysis
An agency of the Department of Commerce, the BEA produces economic accounts statistics that enable government and business decision-makers, researchers, and the American public to follow and understand the performance of the nation's economy.

IPUMS (Integrated Public Use Microdata Series) This link opens in a new window
Census and survey data from the United States and from around the world, integrated across time and space. Coverage varies among data sets, oldest US census data from 1790.
Wharton Research Data Services This link opens in a new window
Research data in business. Provides access to financial, accounting, banking, economics, marketing, and public policy databases through a uniform interface. Includes deep archives of historical data.
