Research in Psychology

Psychology is the scientific study of behavior, mind, and brain. Its researchers seek to understand how people think and act, both as individuals and in groups.

Psychology researchers produce and read:

  • articles in peer reviewed scholarly journals reporting results of experiments and analyses - these are the main focus of most work in the field. They are particularly useful for research on disorders, illnesses, and interventions.
  • tests and instruments - validated  measurement tools to gather data are essential for study within the field
  • statistics - health statistics are used to understand prevalence of conditions and treatments
  • books - broader overviews of topics, which provide fundamentals about how things work.
