Middle Eastern Studies

Research in Middle Eastern Studies

Middle Eastern Studies scholars integrate government, history, religion, art history, and either Arabic or Hebrew to get a broader understanding of he region’s economies, governments, religions, histories, and languages, on both an individual and collective basis.

Scholars read and produce:

  • Secondary literature/Peer reviewed journal articles - typically provide either a detailed critique of a narrow, focused topic or question; or a short summary of a broader idea
  • Books - offer extended original presentations of, or critical analyses on a topic
  • Primary Sources - direct, uninterpreted records of the subject of your research project
  • LibGuides for other disciplines
  • Websites -  can enhance your knowledge providing you look at them through a critical eye understanding the reason for their existence.
  • Policy papers and conference proceedings
