Activating Library Spaces

Why use the library as your venue?

Gain exposure for your art and support the Library’s role as a vibrant center of campus activity by:

  • Creating an inclusive environment that embodies humanity, empathy, and humility
  • Promoting intellectual freedom and responsibility
  • Challenging ideologies and preconceptions
  • Increasing community awareness of diverse forms of creative expression

About the Program

As places for creative self-cultivation, libraries offer distinct learning environments for the exhibition and performance of art. Much more than archives of knowledge, libraries foster and reflect the vitality, complexity, and unfolding patterns of contemporary life. Exhibiting and performing in Wesleyan's library spaces creates opportunities for engagement with the broader scholarly community, to confirm or challenge the status quo, and to catalyze new ideas, discourses, and appreciation for creative expression.
