Citation Management Tools

There are several free and paid citation management tools available. These can help organize sources and generate citations and bibliographies in multiple styles.

Below are two tools that Wesleyan either directly supports or that the library has experience with. If you have questions about another tool besides what's listed below, please let us know.

Endnote
Wesleyan supports Endnote, which offers many different reference types, including journal articles, books, conference proceedings, maps, and theses.
Endnote is pre-loaded onto all university computers, and you can find more information through Self-Service. You can also download a copy onto your personal computer through your Wesleyan Google Drive account.

Zotero
Wesleyan Library staff also have expertise in using Zotero, a free, open-source program and browser extension for adding and organizing sources and generating citations and bibliographies.

Research Data Management

Research Data Management (RDM) "includes processes to create organized, documented, accessible, and reusable quality research data." (American Library Association).

RDM practices save researchers' time, increase citations, enhance reproducibility, and preserve data.

RDM includes best practices for everything from backing up files, naming conventions, securing sensitive data, sharing data, and more.

We're here to help you in your research, and that includes effective data management practices. Please visit the links below for more information, and reach out to us with any questions.
