Student Borrowing Periods

There is no limit on how many items you can check out at one time. You can also renew an item as many times as you need (unless another user requests the item). InterLibrary Loan is limited to 15 active requests at any given time.

Item due dates:

  • Books - 28 days
  • InterLibrary Loan (ILL) items - due dates vary and are set by the lending library
  • Government Documents - 28 days
  • Music recordings (CDs, cassettes, etc.) - 28 days (most formats; some items are in-library use only)
  • Music Scores - 28 days (M1-M4 restricted scores may not be checked out)
  • DVDs - 7 days
  • Bound Periodicals in Olin - 28 days
  • Items on Reserve - 2 to 24 hours (varies)

Undergraduate thesis writers receive longer loan periods on Wesleyan materials.

Each October, Honors candidates that are on the list issued by the Honors College automatically receive extended borrowing privileges.  Any item checked out after the candidate list is issued will receive extended loan periods (items will be due in May).  If you checked out an item before we received the list of honors candidates, it will not automatically be extended to May -- you will need to renew the item to receive the extended loan period.

The extended loan privilege only applies to books (not periodicals) in general collections at Wesleyan. The Honors College reissues its list of candidates in mid-February. Students not included on this list will immediately lose the extended loan privilege, although books they have already checked out will still be due in mid-May.
